GP Hindu Temple · Grande Prairie Mandir
Oct – Nov · Lights, Lakshmi puja and the new year.

Diwali, or Deepavali, the festival of lights, falls on the new moon of Kartika, in October or November. Homes are lit with diyas and rangoli, Lakshmi puja is offered for prosperity, and for many Gujarati families the next day begins the new year (Bestu Varas).
Also called: Deepavali, Divali, Festival of Lights, Lakshmi Puja, Diwali party.
The community celebrates together with Lakshmi puja, diyas, a cultural program of music and dance, sweets and food, and neighbours from across Grande Prairie are welcome.
The Grande Prairie Hindu Association (GPHA), known locally as the GP Hindu Temple, GP Mandir, Grande Prairie Hindu Temple (Mandir) and Peace Temple (Peace Mandir), celebrates Diwali with Hindu families and friends of every background from Grande Prairie, Peace River, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. Everyone is welcome.
