GP Hindu Temple · Grande Prairie Mandir
Aug – Sep · Welcoming Ganpati Bappa home.

Ganesh Chaturthi, or Ganeshotsav, welcomes Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, on the fourth day (chaturthi) of the bright half of Bhadrapada, in August or September. A murti of Ganpati is installed and worshipped for one or more days, then taken for visarjan (immersion) with the call "Ganpati Bappa Morya".
Also called: Ganeshotsav, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Ganpati festival, Ganesh Utsav.
The community welcomes Ganpati Bappa with puja, aarti and modak, and families take part each day of the festival.
The Grande Prairie Hindu Association (GPHA), known locally as the GP Hindu Temple, GP Mandir, Grande Prairie Hindu Temple (Mandir) and Peace Temple (Peace Mandir), celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi with Hindu families and friends of every background from Grande Prairie, Peace River, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. Everyone is welcome.
Dates for the next Ganesh Chaturthi celebration are posted on the home page as soon as they are set. Members hear first, and can register before tickets open to everyone.
